Why You Should Shop Around For Bedding Purchases

We all know money is hard to come by sometimes. If you’re like most of us, discovering an extra $10 bill tucked away in the pocket of your jeans on laundry day is like striking gold. We all relish that idea of found money that we didn’t have to put in a lot of extra work to get our hands on. Today, I’m going to share with you a little secret about how to get that “found money” feeling when you shop for bedding for your home.

Like most things in life, bedding products can be purchased at much lower prices when you learn the secrets of smart shopping. When I shop for anything, like many people, I get out the local newspapers first and look to see if anyone in the local area is running sales. By doing this, I support my local businesses and keep money in my community. This is important because it helps to make sure my community is a good place for my kids to grow up in and local people to find work. I also take it a step further though because, while I believe in supporting the local economy, me going broke isn’t going to help it much.

I go online and use one of the great search engines like Google Shopping to find specific items I am looking for. Let’s say I wanted to buy a designer king sized comforter set in shades of black and gray. I would simply open the Google search engine, type in “king comforter set black gray” and then wait for the results to pop up. By clicking on the Shopping tab on the side of the page, my results would be narrowed to products available for sale ordered by price, popularity or relavence to my search terms. Many times, I find that I can save $20, $30, even $50 or more off the cost I would have paid at a regular retail store.

That money can add up fairly quickly and it gives you that same “found money” feeling without having to actually dig through the sofa cushions or go through the pockets of all your clothes. It’s a technique I learned a long time ago and I use it for nearly every major purchase I make.

Will this technique always save you money? Maybe not all of the time but I would estimate that the majority of the time it is going to save you enough to make it well worth the extra effort. I know for me, it just makes sense to shop around for all my purchases and I enjoy spending that “extra” money on items that are more fun to shop for or necessary. Considering the recent spikes in gas prices, couldn’t we all use a few extra dollars now and then?
